Poor Mercury News staffers (not to mention readers) subjected to a news operation that has sacrificed many of its copy editors to the bottom line. Here are graphs two and three of sportswriter Jerry McDonald’s uncorrected lede (as of this posting) to a story about suspended Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain’s reinstatement. I’ve underlined the bad words:
McClain is back on the 53-man roster after spending two games on the reserve/suspended list, but won't return to the team until after me meets with coach Dennis Allen to determine his fate.
Allen is out of town, attending the future of his father and is expected to be back for Wednesday's practice.
