Long resistant to layoffs even as state funding declined, the financial chickens are finally coming home to roost at City College of San Francisco. The college, which is struggling to maintain its accreditation largely due to mismanagement and is seeing new enrollments drop, will lay off 34 full-time clerical workers and 20 to 30 part-time instructors and 18 part-time counselors starting in January. It’s also cutting salaries for non-union employees, including most administrators, the Chronicle says.
