Move for a new 628 area code carved from the 415, Lynn Woolsey’s last House antiwar speech, Berkeley High teacher busted for LSD possession, more.
  • Starting today and for at least the holiday season, BART is increasing patrols in downtown San Francisco and teaming with Oakland police to offer security escorts at West Oakland Station. ABC 7
  • A Berkeley High School teacher was charged with LSD possession and drunken driving after a traffic stop in San Rafael. Marin IJ
  • Allegiant Air is adding nonstop flights from Oakland to Montrose, Colo., for the ski season. Mercury News
  • Retiring Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-Petaluma) gave what was billed as her 444th and final antiwar speech on the House floor. Marin IJ
  • The state Public Utilities Commission has begun the process to allow it to add a new 628 area code in the current 415 area, which will run out of available three-digit prefixes by 2015. KTVU 2
