No surprise. There’s outrage after state Fish and Game wardens shot and killed two mountain lion cubs in the background of a home in Half Moon Bay over the weekend. The Mercury News says the explanation for not trying to tranquilize them: officers on scene were afraid they’d escape and pose a public threat. Speculation is that the cubs—9 months old and weighing less than 30 pounds—were likely siblings whose mother had died.
