Sharks’ and NHL’s damage from lockout aren’t fixed by a night of free hockey

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

As the NHL lockout entered Day 95 there were mixed emotions among the 12,881 who turned out at HP Pavilion last night to see the minor league San Francisco Bulls and Stockton Thunder, courtesy of the Sharks. (Bulls lost 6-4). Downtown restaurateurs, who’ve been torched by the lockout, were happy for a night. The Sharks gave away the tickets, although some who missed out on the promotion bought them in the resale market.

No way to know how typical, but one Sharks fan, Jan Olsen, tells the Mercury News she only went to see her hockey fan friends, and is no less ticked over the lockout:

“That’s why I’m going, not to support the Sharks. Because I don’t support the Sharks.”
