This is being tough with lobbyists? No secret texts to pols during meetings

It’s being hailed as a progressive step and
apparently a first in California and maybe the nation: San Jose is banning secret communications between elected officials and lobbyists . . . during public meetings. Lobbyists’ texts, notes and phone calls aren’t actually banned but now when they happen the officeholder is supposed to announce that communication occurred (without, of course, having to disclose anything about what was communicated) before he or she votes. As for all other governmental bodies where no such provision exists: use your imagination. California Watch
