The Internet activist, programming wizard and Reddit co-founder who as a young teenager helped create RSS, the family of Web feed formats taken for granted by readers of blogs and news feeds, was found dead in his New York apartment. Authorities said today Swartz had apparently hanged himself. His death comes just weeks before the crusader for the free flow of information over the Internet was to go to trial accused of stealing millions of journal articles from an electronic archive in an effort to make them freely available.
