Cops: ‘Fake’ doctor arrested in hospital credit card thefts

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Weird crime story of the day: An Oakland woman is busted after allegedly posing as a doctor, complete with white lab coat, to infiltrate Bay Area hospitals and steal credit cards from nurses and other staff. That’s the suspect, Yolanda Smith, 49, pictured. Police arrested her in Fairfield after a hospital security guard spotted her. One of the alleged capers took place at a hospital in Santa Cruz, thus the post from the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
