Mayor Ed Lee’s headache with the San Francisco Housing Authority and its embattled director, Henry Alvarez (pictured, in Housing Authority photo), just got more painful. A new audit by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development slams it as a troubled agency with dire financial problems and major management flaws.
Under the feds’ criteria, it scored a dismal 54 out of 100. So far, Lee has steadfastly stuck by Alvarez, who’s the subject of dozens of complaints from staffers that he’s a bully and who faces three lawsuits for discrimination and retaliation. Chronicle
