Health reports on San Francisco eateries: coming soon to Yelp

Thursday, January 17, 2013

Something new for foodies to yelp about. Often-lacking health inspection information about San Francisco restaurants will soon be posted to the consumer review site. Just what will be there and whether it will be as useful as, say, Los Angeles County’s long-time requirement that restaurants post health inspection letter grades at the door, remains to be seen.

Mayor Ed Lee will announce the Yelp move today—in Washington, where he has decamped for a Conference of Mayors winter meeting that coincides with presidential inaugural week hobnobbing. Why go 3,000 miles to announce something you could easily do by press release back home? Oh, did we mention that the mayor chairs the group’s technology and innovation task force? Chronicle
