Now that the great Manti Te’o girlfriend hoax that the sports journalism world bought hook, line and sinker has shifted to the Notre Dame football star himself, there’s both handwringing and mirth-making at Stanford, where the nonexistent Lennay Kekua was allegedly a student. Headline in the Stanford Daily: “Manti Te'o's fake girlfriend, and how we missed it.” Mercury News picks up on the Stanford buzz, where media are (predictably) calling nonstop to find out all they can about . . . someone who never existed and about whom it goes without saying was never a student there.
