Michael Crabtree sexual assault allegation—who controls the story?

The 49ers wide receiver (shown here in his official Nike photo) is in Atlanta to play in tomorrow’s NFC championship game. A woman has accused him of sexually assaulting her at a San Francisco hotel early Sunday, following the 49ers’ playoff win over Green Bay the day before. SFPD is saying remarkably little, not even identifying the hotel. Crabtree’s lawyer has gotten his ‘he’s fully cooperated’ message into the news stream. The 49ers issued a statement that the organization takes sexual assault allegations seriously. (Really?) And tomorrow, the game, with Crabtree, goes on.
