  • Police arrested five people in connection with an East Oakland shooting in which an officer was wounded. Chronicle
  • Supporters of Prop 8, California’s same-sex marriage ban, filed briefs with the U. S. Supreme Court urging the court to preserve the ban, in the first of likely many legal skirmishes before arguments are heard in March. Mercury News
