After months (no, make that years) of speculation, the Sacramento Kings confirmed this morning the team has been sold to a group headed by San Francisco-based investor Chris Hansen. The sale, which has been estimated to be for around $340 million for the Maloof brothers’ 65 percent share (that’s three of the brothers pictured), must be approved by the NBA.
The Maloofs issued a statement devoid of details. It’s widely assumed that if the deal flies, Hansen’s group will move the team to Seattle, where they’re in talks to build a new arena, and resurrect the franchise as the SuperSonics. Sac Bee
