Mark it down. The most expensive bridge in the history of the world—price tag $6.3 billion—will officially open Sept. 3, the day after Labor Day. But plans are to let people walk, run and bike across it a day or two earlier, and maybe even enjoy a concert on Treasure Island. Gov. Jerry Brown has already said the festivities will be privately funded (never too late to be frugal, I guess) although the Chronicle says that the toll authority is considering spending about $5.6 million in public funds to pay for transportation to and from the bridge walk and cover public safety.
