Field Poll: Surprising strength for ‘soda tax’

Just three months after Big Soda poured millions of dollars into defeating Richmond’s soda tax measure, a new Field Poll has California proponents of such measures smiling. Only 40 percent of voters support a soda tax when first asked about it, but support zooms to 68 percent if proceeds are earmarked for such things as improved school nutrition and physical activity programs.
