‘Gotta get on this now’—Chevron cranks up lobbying in Sacramento*

OK, the next time you see one of those warm and fuzzy Chevron TV spots portraying the San Ramon-based oil giant as a steward of the environment—which could be any minute now—here’s something else to chew on. Chevron has cranked up the lobbying in Sacramento to delay implementation of California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard, the move to make diesel and gasoline cleaner by 2020. Mercury News

*Meanwhile, Chevron's just-announced $7.2 billion net income for the fourth quarter represents the biggest quarterly profit in the company's history.
