If you haven’t noticed already, San Francisco’s CBS affiliate, heretofore referred to as CBS 5, is dumping that affectation and has begun referring to itself simply by its call letters, KPIX. Good for them. And even better, the station has also tossed “Eyewitness News,” the cookie-cutter identifier it adopted (along with a ton of other local stations in various markets) back the 1960s. Here’s hoping this starts a trend.
