Legislators at play—an unruly Republican gets the ‘small office’ treatment

Friday, February 22, 2013

OK, here’s how they do it in the third grade state legislature. Kristin Olsen, a Republican from Modesto, had the audacity to try and unseat fellow Republican Connie Conway of Bakersfield for leadership of the Assembly Republican Caucus. She failed. And voila! She’s now been ordered to move out of her state capitol office of 763 square feet to one that’s 584 square feet as a form of punishment. Technically, Assembly Speaker John A. Perez, a Democrat, made the call, but tradition dictates that he consult with the other party’s caucus leader about such things, in this case . . . Conway. Capitol Alert
