Mayor picks Katy Tang as successor to her boss, Carmen Chu

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Katy Tang (official photo)And Mayor Ed Lee’s choice to replace Carmen Chu as the District Four representative on the Board of Supervisors is . . . Katy Tang, 29, Chu’s legislative aide of five years. Both Tang and Chu, whom Lee already chose to succeed Phil Ting as city assessor after Ting announced he’s running for the Assembly, will be sworn in today. They’ll each face election in November. From the Chronicle:

Tang, 29, is politically untested. But she's known to key constituents in the district from more than five years as Chu's aide, and she's well regarded at City Hall, often a place of colliding egos.

Tang is a product of San Francisco public schools, a Lowell High School graduate, and earned bachelor's degrees in political science and history from UC Davis, where Lee said she graduated in just three years.
