Does Levi Strauss want to put its name on 49ers’ Santa Clara stadium?

Friday, March 22, 2013

Queue jokes about the 49ers wearing the pants in their future Santa Clara home. The Chronicle’s Andrew Ross points to evidence suggesting that jeans maker Levi Strauss may be in the stadium naming rights mix. The company has registered domain names for Levi Field, Levi Stadium and Levi Strauss Park. (Are they also leaving the door open to a baseball park in the event the A’s ever move to the South Bay, too?)

If it happens with the Santa Clara stadium, at least there would be a San Francisco connection. Strauss has been in the city since 1853, and, unlike the 49ers, isn’t leaving.
