In case you missed this over the weekend, here’s a delicious piece of news about embattled housing authority director Henry Alvarez: His new restaurant that he’s been prepping while out on paid medical leave opens May 1, the day after his public pension is to vest. The Chronicle says it’s up to Mayor Ed Lee and his remade Housing Authority Commission as to whether that will be allowed to happen (his staying employed long enough to get a pension for life, not the restaurant debut). Bon appetit.
