Milestone for BART’s Oakland Airport Connector

Friday, March 15, 2013

A little traffic pain this weekend as work on BART’s $484-million extension to Oakland Airport turns a corner, so to speak. Interstate 880 traffic will be detoured off the freeway at Hegenberger Road from 1 to 6 a.m. Sunday while part of the connector’s steel trackway is lifted atop concrete columns over the freeway. There’ll be a similar closure to finish the work March 24. When finished in late 2014, the project will connect the airport with BART at Coliseum station. (That’s a BART depiction above). Chronicle
