You know the ferry service between Oakland and South San Francisco that started 9 months ago amid much fanfare? Not many riders. The Chronicle says it averaged just 131 total passengers per day for the last week of February; that’s for 7 daily trips Monday through Friday. Lest you forget, the ferry operates with a $2.3 million annual subsidy from . . . ka-ching: bridge tolls.
