A new poll shows a plurality of California voters—45.3 percent—would support legislation to strip San Francisco of its Tuolumne River water rights unless Yosemite’s Hetch Hetchy Valley is restored by 2025. The poll was commissioned by the environmental group Restore Hetch Hetchy, which wants San Francisco to take down O’Shaughnessy Dam and restore the valley destroyed a century ago for a reservoir that provides much of the city’s drinking water. Robert Gammon at East Bay Express writes about it.
