California’s two big ticket public works items at the top of Jerry Brown’s agenda during his last term in office get a wary eye from voters in a new Public Policy Institute of California poll. Neither the state’s $11.1-billion water bond, scheduled for the November 2014 election, nor its $68-billion high-speed rail project has majority support from voters. But when asked if they would support the projects if they cost less, each goes over the 50 percent mark. AP
