Report: Dismal state of California’s community colleges

How do you lose 500,000 students? That’s how much enrollment has declined at California’s 112 community colleges since 2007-2008, falling to a 20-year low. The reason: staggering budget cuts that have left the colleges unable to serve hundreds of thousands of would-be students, says a new report from the Public Policy Institute of California. One dismal nugget: course offerings are down 21 percent. LA Times
