Reps from the musicians’ union and management met all week with a federal mediator but with the sides still far apart the San Francisco Symphony this afternoon pulled the plug on its East Coast tour, the Chronicle’s Joshua Kosman says. Four performances at Davies Concert Hall had already been canceled since the musicians walked out last Wednesday.
The symphony was to have left Tuesday for dates at Carnegie Hall in New York, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, and Washington’s Kennedy Center. The musicians rejected the mediator’s suggestion of continuing with the tour under a so-called “cooling off” period.
