Here’s my nominee for Optimist of the Week: City College of San Francisco board President John Rizzo. The college failed to clean up all its deficiencies by a March 15 deadline, it’s waiting to know in June whether it will be shut down, and yet trustees just approved $150,000 for a consultant to begin searching for a new chancellor. And Rizzo tells the Chronicle’s Nanette Asimov (pay-walled):
"This could be a pretty good opportunity for someone, you know? We're a district on the upswing."
