With Tribune Company shopping the Los Angeles Times and its other newspapers, the jitters are becoming palpable in LA amid rumors that the right-wing billionaire Koch brothers, David and Charles, may be interested. Not to mention Rupert Murdoch. Now comes word that billionaire investor and philanthropist Eli Broad is joining financier Austin Beutner’s proposal to buy the LAT and run it as a non-profit. They’re said to be open to acquiring the other Tribune papers, but, if successful, would sell them off. Hollywood Reporter breaks the story.
