The East Bay transit agency, which has caught flak recently for its future $178-million “express bus” line between San Leandro and Oakland’s 19th Street BART station, is easing off on another of its plans: It won’t raise fares July 1 after all. With ridership up and revenue on the rise, its board voted to cancel raising basic bus fare by 15 cents to $2.25, and may even consider rolling back the fare to $2. Contra Costa Times
