A’s win longest game in Oakland history—19 innings, 6 1/2 hours

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

And in this morning’s baseball final—that’s after 1 a.m.—the A’s beat the Angels 10-8 at the Coliseum . . . in 19 innings. At 6 hours, 32 minutes it was the longest game in Oakland A’s history, mercifully ended by Brandon Moss’s two-run homer, his second of the game. The teams combined for 598 pitches. From The Drumbeat blog:

Moss did get the customary whipped-cream pie in the face, but Josh Reddick handed him the pie tin and Moss smacked it against his own face. Nutty stuff happens after 1 a.m.
