That request last week by San Jose mayor Chuck Reed (right) to meet personally with baseball commissioner Bud Selig over the A’s efforts to move south—not happening. The commissioner brushed off Reed in an April 4 reply. Not only that, Selig appears to have taken exception to Reed’s mentioning possible “additional litigation” in San Jose’s efforts to secure the A’s. Selig said the litigation reference “is neither productive nor consistent with process that the Athletics have initiated under our rules.” That’s legalese for get lost. Mercury News
