Bay Area pollution hotspots and beyond, by zip code

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

The state is out with nifty (if depressing) interactive maps showing air pollution levels by zip code. (It’s from the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment.) In the Bay Area, some of the worst spots are in San Francisco’s Bayview, parts of Oakland, Richmond and Hayward, and communities downwind of refineries in Contra Costa County—Pittsburg and Antioch. The Chronicle’s Stephanie Lee writes about it.
