GOP’s Abel Maldonado says he’s considering a run for governor

The GOP hasn’t elected a statewide candidate since 2006, party registration is at an all-time low at under 30 percent, and Jerry Brown’s popularity remains high. So former lieutenant governor Abel Maldonado, who was left in the dust by Gavin Newsom in his attempt to hold on to the Lite Gov’s post, says he’s filing papers to explore a run for governor in 2014.
