It’s now ex-housing authority chief Henry Alvarez. As expected, after Mayor Ed Lee finally lost interest in supporting him, the housing authority commission fired Alvarez last night, effective immediately. It did vote to pay out the remainder of his $210,500 contract, which expires at the end of June, apparently to ward off a possible lawsuit from the soon-to-be restaurateur. His new Berkeley eatery opens May 1, the day after his public pension for life was supposed to vest. His firing averts that from happening. Chronicle
