The governor, speaking to a Sacramento crowd gathered to remember victims of crime, discloses that three men tried to break into his home in the Oakland hills about a year ago. But his experience immediately raised more questions than it answered. An excerpt from the Chronicle’s Wyatt Buchanan:
He said the Oakland incident happened around 1 a.m. when three men showed up at his house and tried to break in. Anne Gust Brown called the CHP, who arrived and held the men for 40 minutes.
"They said they were looking to buy real estate in the neighborhood and the Oakland Police let them go. The CHP deferred to them, but that's not going to happen any more," Brown said.
Real estate hunting at 1 a.m.? Oakland Police let them go? Uh, I think folks will want to know more.
