Matt Flynn the new Raiders quarterback; Carson Palmer to Arizona

Monday, April 1, 2013

The Raiders acquired Seattle Seahawks backup Matt Flynn (pictured) this morning for draft picks, AP is reporting, and Fox Sports says that Carson Palmer will be dealt to the Arizona Cardinals. If it happens, it will, with a nod to the line in “Casablanca,” mark the end of an unbeautiful relationship.

Palmer was already arguably over-the-hill when, after Al Davis’ death, former coach Hue Jackson helped engineer maybe the looniest trade in recent NFL memory: acquiring the out-of-shape former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, at home on the sofa and threatening to retire, in exchange for a first-round draft pick (last year) and a second-rounder (this year).
