A consulting firm hired by the Municipal Transportation Agency concludes that San Francisco doesn’t have nearly enough taxi cabs. The city has 1,585 taxis on the streets and 200 are already being added, but the report says another 600 to 800 are needed, especially in areas outside the center of the city, the Chronicle says.
Cab drivers, who say they’re facing competition from unlicensed limo and ride-sharing services, aren’t thrilled by the idea.
