Police chief drops proposal to arm some SFPD cops with stun guns

San Francisco is one of the last major cities in the country that doesn’t arm its police with electric stun guns and it appears it will stay that way. Police Chief Greg Suhr last night dropped his proposal that would have armed just 5 percent of the force with the weapons, and only after they had received special training. Reason: a pilot program faced so many restrictions he said their use would place the officers and the public at more risk. Chronicle
