For the second year in a row, California Watch, the online organ of the Center for Investigative Reporting, was named a finalist for one of journalism’s most prestigious honors. Ryan Gabrielson’s series “Broken Shield” about the appalling systemic failure to protect residents in the state’s developmental centers, was a runner-up for the public service Pulitzer.
