Sad demise of public station KCET in Los Angeles

Friday, April 19, 2013

How the mighty have fallen. KCET Los Angeles was at the pinnacle of public television on the West Coast until the folks in charge decided to do the unthinkable and secede from PBS. It’s struggled as an independent ever since, and today, six months after merging with Link Media, KCET announced it’s laying off the equivalent of 22 full-time positions, about a fifth of its staff. The once-revered station now goes by the moniker KCETlink. LA Observed blogs about it.
