Staffer on just how empty the Merc’s cavernous offices are these days

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

As the Mercury News prepares to sell off its longtime suburban San Jose newspaper office and find smaller digs more suited to its needs, an anonymous staffer notes the following to media blogger Jim Romenesko:

“Once upon a time, there were something like 1700 people working in this old building; 400 editorial staff. Now, less than 100 edit staff remain here (supplemented by copy desk in Walnut Creek) and a grand total of 400 employees work at 750 Ridder Park Dr.”
