A nonprofit that analyzes data on the added cost of operating a vehicle due to poor pavement conditions has bad news for the Bay Area. San Jose, at No. 1, and San Francisco and Oakland together, at No. 3, are among the worst of the lot nationwide—that’s $756 a year in added repairs for San Jose motorists, and $706 for those in SF/Oakland. Concord is sixth worst. Mercury News’ Gary Richards writes about it.
