The same renowned London architectural firm that’s working on Apple’s planned new spaceship-like Cupertino corporate headquarters is also designing (for the corner of Post and Stockton) . . . a ho-hum meet-me-at-the-mall box that’s to be the new Apple store on Union Square? And worse, says the Chronicle’s John King, the store will apparently uproot Ruth Asawa’s bronze fountain that King hails as one of downtown’s “friendliest works of public art.”
As for what it would replace: the four-story triangular building that for the last 15 years has held Levi’s flagship store. Chronicle
