At Village Voice, editors quit as more layoffs turn alt weekly into a skeleton

Sad tale from what’s left of the old Village Voice Media, now Voice Media, and whose previous owners—Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin—used to count SF Weekly and East Bay Express among their little fishes. At New York’s Village Voice, the once-great alt weekly, new editor Will Bourne and deputy editor Jessica Lustig quit today. The chain’s bosses decreed that the already emaciated staff be cut by another five souls and neither wanted to be part of the bloodletting, the NYT’s David Carr says.
