That’s the deck that runs with Michael Tomasky’s Valentine to the Oakland congresswoman in The Daily Beast. Looking back on the global “war on terrorism,” two things are true, he says:
The first is that the country and the world would be a hell of a lot better off if we’d followed Barbara Lee’s advice instead of Paul Wolfowitz’s. And second is that the foreign-policy establishment of Washington, including loyalists of both parties, will never, ever, ever, accept the first fact, which dooms us to unending expense, death, and tragedy.
She’s identified in the piece as “the Democratic congresswoman who represents Berkeley.” Which is true, but, well . . .
