Brown says state can’t fully comply with feds’ order on prison crowding

File this one under stuff that happens on a Friday night: In a late-night court filing, Gov. Jerry Brown acknowledges that California will not comply with a federal court order to reduce its overcrowded prison population by nearly 10,000 inmates this year. Instead, the governor is saying the state will attempt to get within 2,750 inmates of the court-imposed level by year’s end, opening him to accusations of flouting a judicial order. Chronicle
