So says the Chronicle’s Matier & Ross, whose lede today declares: “Thanks to the NFL owners, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee just got a big boost for his re-election.” Not only that, the Chron runs a Mercury News photo picked up by AP (above) of a fist-pumping Chronicle columnist Willie Brown and grinning Lee under the headline: “Ed Lee re-election given boost with bowl.”
