Howard Kurtz and The Daily Beast have “parted company” in the aftermath of the media critic’s blog screw-up in which it appears he faulted gay NBA player Jason Collins’ coming out story in Sports Illustrated without reading it closely enough. The Daily Beast retracted the post. Kurtz, who famously works—as he puts it—“a zillion hours” a week, hosts “Reliable Sources” on CNN and also contributes to a website called Daily Download. And he’s been party to some spectacular goofs over the years, as the NYT writes.
